From Hobby to Blessing
How things went from a hobby of mine to creating some pretty snazzy looking creations was my church's fault!! (not very convincing, is it?)
At my former home church in Ardmore, there were annual women's conferences and the theme of one in particular was Lovely In Silhouette. My Pastor's wife at TOP asked me to see if my daughter would create some silhouettes on canvas to be door prizes and although my daughter agreed, this tasks was placed on a 17 year old's lap 🦗...to make silhouettes, we (me...we was me) discovered that I needed something to make the silhouettes (stencils) and the ony place I knew to find them in a lil bitty Oklahoma town was at that hobby place (THAT story comes a little later) that shall not be named 🫣. At that big ol craft store, a lovely lady took me over to the Cricut machines because she said it would be perfect for what I (or we?) were making.
20 some odd silhouettes later (i think 23?) plus 16 glass teacup and plate sets plus 4 small glittered up ceramic plates PLUS a much bigger painted ceramic plate later, everyone at the conference received a door prize including the keynote speaker and 4 breakout speakers.
I was hooked on that thing that I called a Cry-cut because that's what the word Cricut looked like to me, and I had no clue what I had just paid 269$ for or what else it could do besides cut stencil. For 2 years following that, I didn't touch it because I hated the design space software and it was a ginormous pain to create anything with it on my laptop.
I almost sold it......until a lovely new friend of mine showed me that I could download the new Cricut app on my phone and design, connect, and cut from there. Boy was I excited!! I tried to Cricut EVERYTHING!
From the canvas work, I dabbled a little bit in doing t-shirts... Ya know, adding scriptures and cute little Christian-y sayings on the t-shirts.
It wasn't until Holy Spirit convinced me to purchase a sewing machine in 2022 that I started personalizing (Cricut HTV) everthing I learned to sew 😂
